There are six main types of sulfur used in the rubber industry:
Precipitated sulfur:
Good dispersion in rubber. Suitable for advanced products and latex film products, etc.
Sulfur powder:
It is obtained by crushing and screening refined block sulfur. It is the main vulcanizing agent of rubber
Insoluble sulfur:
Because this product is insoluble in carbon disulfide, it is called insoluble sulfur. This product is insoluble in the rubber compound at the processing temperature before vulcanization, but dissolves in the rubber compound at the vulcanization temperature to exert the vulcanization effect.
It can prevent the disadvantages of sulfur spraying and decreased adhesion of the mixed rubber. It is also not easy to produce early vulcanization. It is suitable for important rubber products such as steel cord tires, and the dosage is the same as that of ordinary sulfur
Colloidal sulfur:
Grind sulfur powder or precipitated sulfur with a dispersant in a ball mill or a colloid mill to make a paste that is colloidal sulfur, which can also be dried into a solid. The particles are extremely fine, with a particle size of 1-3 μm. Mainly used in latex products, uniform dispersion, slow settling speed
Sulfur mixture:
It is made by mixing sulfur powder with polymer or other additives. Its purpose is to improve the dispersion of sulfur and prevent sulfur from coagulating and crystallizing, etc.
Surface Treatment Sulfur:
It is obtained by surface-attaching powdered sulfur or precipitated sulfur with a treatment agent (such as polyisobutylene, etc.) that has no effect on vulcanization. It is characterized by easy mixing, good dispersibility, low scorch and high operating safety
